Health & Safety
We know that traveling abroad comes with risks. That’s why we take extraordinary precautions to ensure that issues of health and safety are treated with the utmost care and concern. ThinkImpact has a proud history of going the extra mile for the health of our participants, and an impeccable safety record.
Host communities are selected for their record of safety, particularly towards guests, and for their proximity to medical support. ThinkImpact takes a “leave no stone unturned” approach, which means we will act quickly and responsibly to keep scholars healthy and safe. We track local politics with extreme care and act immediately. We have vehicles and medical evacuation options available 24/7 and we have doctors on call around the clock. All participants in ThinkImpact Institutes are coverered by our AIG umbrella policy and are offered the option of additional Travelelex insurance, if not covered by their university or institution.
All participants are required to sign a behavior policy contract and follow a strict transportation policy that creates sensible boundaries while working with ThinkImpact. We have identified the balance between stifling participation and ensuring that we are doing everything we can for the health and safety of all participants. Specific questions regarding health and safety while participating in a ThinkImpact Institute can be directed to email@example.com.
Participants are encouraged to consult with their personal physicians, in advance of
their trip, regarding required vaccines for their destination country. Furthermore,
participants are also encouraged to come prepared with any of their required
medications so that they do not have to source them while in-country; as the same
dosage and medication may not be available.
Prior to the departure of each Institute, participants are given handbooks, that help
answer both general questions regarding staying healthy while travelling abroad,
and those issues that may pertain to the specific destination country.
All of ThinkImpact staff is trained on emergency protocol and are able to handle
medical emergencies, even in remote areas.
AIG Umbrella Policy
ThinkImpact’s AIG insurance policy offers coverage for emergency medical
treatment, medical evacuation, repatriation, kidnapping/extortion, and lost
personal property. This coverage is included in program fees; covers participants
throughout their time on the Institute; and participants may not opt out of coverage.
AIG also offers AIG Travel Guard for ThinkImpact participants to assist in advance
health planning, regarding vaccines and other issues that are destination-specific.
ThinkImpact recommends the purchase of additional personal insurance if
participants are not completely covered by their trip sponsor. The fee for this
insurance is only included in the general program fee when the participant officially
Behavior Policy Contract
As an Institute Scholar, participants are representative of Think Impact and their
home country. Behavior on a ThinkImpact institute can directly affect how locals
view foreigners. Additionally, behavior also has a direct impact on individual and
group safety. Failure to comply in the behavior guidelines may result in dismissal
from the program. The exact details of the behavior contract can be found here.
ThinkImpact has a strict transportation policy. While on a ThinkImpact Institute, no
individuals may use any sort of public or private transportation that is not
sponsored or sanctioned by ThinkImpact, as ThinkImpact cannot guarantee safety
in that case. Disregarding this policy may result in the termination of the
individual’s participation in the Institute.
