Health Entrepreneurship in Kenya
Through ThinkImpact’s Kenya Institute you will have an experience that will not only train you in design thinking, social entrepreneurship and fieldwork; you’ll start or contribute to a real health-focused enterprise that can generate incomes, feed, empower community engagement and education.
About the Country
Looking to innovate and immerse in a world of culture and community? The Kenyan rural communities where ThinkImpact works are warm, welcoming, and industrious.
We work in Kilifi district, about 50km northwest of Mombasa in communities such as Mariakani, Makomboani, Chanagande and others. The region is arid, the people are friendly and there is an intense interest in entrepreneurship and development. The rural villages where we work are home to 250-800 community members.

Project | Bitumi
Bitumi is dedicated to the treatment and prevention of jiggers through production of a locally sourced compound. Jiggers are small insects that burrow into human feet and cause short and long term damage to community health and quality of life. The team created a balm made from kasciro paka and mjaje roots, grinded into poweder and mixed with cocount oil that eradicated mal-effects from jiggers.
