Innovation: Crop Reselling For Improved Nourishment
How did ThinkImpact influence your path?
I had already traveled abroad extensively by the time I did ThinkImpact’s institute. The full immersion in a rural community was totally unique and worthwhile. It helps you really experience the cadence of life there and gives you confidence that you can become culturally competent, which is such a necessary skill in today’s world.
Project | Duharanire Kubaho Neza ("Striving for Good Health")
The Design Team developed by Jordan and his fellow Scholar, Michael, was focused on combatting the issue of malnutrition in the village of Binunga. The innovation they piloted was that of crop intensification – the planting of orange-fleshed sweet potatoes (to addresses a critical Vitamin A deficiency in the community) as well as other vitamin-rich produce to sell within Binunga, which does not have its own vegetable market and has to rely on markets in neighboring villages.
