The team invented a rain gutter made from recycled bottles that collects rain water to use in gardening. This was particularly useful during droughts peppered by the occasional downpour. Tap water in rural Panama is often treated with bleach, making it an undesirable option for watering gardens. This team created a gutter-like rain collection system built from recycled soda bottles. Rain water is collected from the roof into the gutter, and then channelled into five gallon tanks that can be carried to water nearby gardens.
Latest prototype could fill a five gallon tank in under 60 seconds.
